FAQ

  • How long does it take to complete the ELDT course?

The time required to complete the ELDT course depends on your pace. Most trainees complete the course less than one (1) hour, but this may vary based on your availability and familiarity with the material.

  • How soon after completing the course will my certification be uploaded?

Once you successfully complete the course, your certification will be uploaded to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry within 24–48 hours.

  • Can I access the course on mobile or tablet devices?

Yes! Our course is accessible on mobile phones, tablets, and computers, so you can learn anywhere and anytime.

  • What’s your contact information?

If you have additional questions or need assistance, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

  • Do I need ELDT if I already have a CDL?

It depends. If you obtained your CDL before February 7, 2022, you are exempt from ELDT requirements for that license class. However, if you are adding a new endorsement — such as Hazmat, Passenger, or School Bus — for the first time, ELDT theory is still required regardless of when you got your CDL.

  • What is the FMCSA Training Provider Registry?

The FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) is a federal database of approved ELDT training providers. When you complete a course with DLA Academy, we submit your results directly to the TPR within 24–48 hours. Your state DMV then verifies your training before allowing you to schedule your CDL skills or endorsement test.

  • Which ELDT course do I need?

It depends on what CDL or endorsement you are applying for. First-time CDL A applicants need the CDL A Theory ELDT. First-time CDL B applicants need the CDL B Theory ELDT. Drivers adding Hazmat, Passenger, or School Bus endorsements need the corresponding endorsement ELDT course. Visit our Do You Need ELDT? page for a full breakdown.

  • Can I take more than one ELDT course?

Yes. If you need multiple endorsements or are upgrading your CDL class, you can purchase and complete multiple courses. Each course is just $20 and can be completed independently at your own pace.
